Players Only: Saluki Basketball discuss offseason goals

CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - The Saluki basketball offseason has been anything but ordinary.
For the first time in a while a new head coach and a lot of new players.
Things are whole lot different now in Carbondale.
Including the expectations, winning is everything, but first the team must unite to reach those winning ways in the Valley.
New head coach Scott Nagy says building blocks are crucial for the dawgs to want to have any type of success this season.
The summer offseason is where the team should do most of its growing.
Practices are well organized but the offense is still a bit behind the defense.
It's not yet a cause for concern though. The players say these practices are ones that will pay off down the line --- and allow them to have something to lean on once the season rolls around.
"We are just adjusting and getting used to each other. I feel on practices right now, (they) are really helping us getting to learn and learn the plays, and learn how we play with each other. But, I feel like as time goes we are going to grow and it is going to be good," Kennard Davis Jr. said.
"We are trying to prove that we can compete at the highest level and win a lot of games. This is where we want to be. We want to win. We got something to prove," transfer Damien Mayo Jr. said.
The Salukis will get back to work next week as the dog days of summer continue. We'll see how close they can be on trying to prove what they are setting out to accomplish as the off-season continues.
