Saluki Softball holds 25th annual fundraiser

CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - We're less than two weeks away from the start of college softball.
Last year the Salukis went all the way to the NCAA Tournament. This year the word is they should be even better.
The Dawgs were out greeting their supporters last night in their annual fundraiser banquet.
The team was out in full force trying to raise money for the upcoming season.
They did this with a silent auction and raffle. Plenty of tickets were sold as SIU backers and boosters were bidding on many different cool items.
The Saluki Softball Slugger bat got a ton of attraction.
Fans had a chance to meet the team during their 25th annual fundraiser and learn about this years squad.
The players say its great to see all the support they have as they get set to enter a brand new season.
"It just gets everyone excited, We have all of our fans here again, like supporting us we know they are all here they are going to ride with us the whole season, Senior Pitcher Senior Pitcher Madi Eberle said."
"Meet all the fans, all the parents, all the donors and just kind of show them who the new roster is, let them interact with all of us and kind of just get to know the new 2024 team, Sophomore Jackie Lis said."
We'll have more on the team and preview the Dawgs upcoming season next week right here on News 3.
