Salukis to start true freshman Quarterback Jake Curry following injury to Marion's Hunter Simmons

CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - The Saluki football team is down to just one healthy Quarterback left on the roster.

Backup Quarterback & Marion native Hunter Simmons exited the game early. Trainers were seen putting an air-cast on Simmons' left leg. Head Coach Nick Hill later said in his press conference that Simmons broke his left leg.

Jake Curry is a true Freshman from Evansville, IL. Curry went 8/19 for 133 yards in his college football debut. #19 SIU fell to  #18 Illinois State 45-10.

The Dawgs are 2-4 overall and are back home on Saturday to face North Dakota State at 2:00PM.

SIU is currently 10th in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, North Dakota is the top team in the conference.
