Avante Cox becomes 10th Consensus All-American in school history

CARBONDALE (SIU ATHLETICS/WSIL) With his inclusion on the All-America team by Athlon on Tuesday, Southern Illinois wide receiver  became the 10th player in school history to earn Consensus All-American recognition (first-team by three different organizations). Earlier this spring, Cox was named to the Stats Perform and American Football Coaches Association All-America teams.

A junior from Rochester, Illinois, Cox led the Missouri Valley Football Conference in receiving with 66 catches for 838 yards and five touchdowns. He added 25 carries for 238 yards, averaging nearly 10 yards per rushing attempt. Cox had 100-yard receiving games against North Dakota, North Dakota State, Southeastern Louisiana and Weber State.
