DES MOINES (WSIL) -- ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois men's basketball ran into a buzz saw in the Drake Bulldogs. Drake came with the sweep following an 86-55 win over SIU.
The Salukis led 2-0, and from that point on, it was all Drake. The Bulldogs outrebounded SIU by 18 & outscored SIU's bench 47-17. Drake was also dominate in the paint, outscoring SIU 44-22.
Long distance shooting was a problem area as well for SIU. Drake shot 60 percent for three, while SIU was just 28 percent from three-point range. SIU had no second half threes, but hit 7 in the first half. On Sunday, it was just the opposite. SIU hit 6 in the first half, and none after the break.
Marcus Domask led SIU with 13 points and both Lance Jones and Ben Harvey chipped in with 10 each. Joseph Yesufu led Drake in scoring with 16 points off the bench.
SIU falls to 7-3, while Drake improves to 13-0. SIU will face Indiana State for two games in Terre Haute, Indiana starting January 9. Both Saturday and Sunday's games will be noon starts.
