TERRE HAUTE, IN (WSIL) -- SIU mens's basketball ended 2019 not the way they would've liked. with a 68-56 loss at Indiana State in the Missouri Valley Confeference opener.
Salukis will have a chance to start off 2020 with a win at home when they host Illinois State on Saturday at 4 PM.
A healthy Salukis team would surely improve the odds.
SIU was still with out senior guard Aaron Cook and had to play without another senior in Eric McGill, he has the flu.
Freshman Trent Brown got his first career start Monday night at Indiana State.
After the loss, I asked SIU Head Coach Bryan Mullins if the absense of McGill had an impact on the loss.
"Next man up," Mullins said.
"It was an impact obviously as a senior guard, he's a big part of the team, but we had enough in the locker room to be successful today and we just didn't get it done."
