CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - In the short time the Salukis had pitcher Maddia Groff, the team accomplished a lot.

Maddia Groff named CSE Division I All-American

Teams are ever-changing, though, as Groff has joined the transfer portal.

The Nebraska native was named a CSE Division One All-American. She is one of 4 pitchers to receive the honor.

Most recently, Maddia and her twin sister, Rylinn, helped the Dawgs win the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title. Now, the twins are on the outside looking in.

Maddia was fantastic this year. The pitcher earned 30 of the Dawgs' 44 wins this season. That's a little shy of 70%.

The freshman had an ERA of just 1.11 and 244 strikeouts in nearly 221 innings of work.

The Groff sisters were great for SIU, but, with college athletes now profiting, it is no surprise to see the sisters want to play for a major program.
