SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WSIL) -- Many southern Illinois teams placed in the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA) Championships over the weekend in Springfield. Some of them brought back trophies for first place finishes.

The 2025 ICCA Championships brought cheerleading squads from across the state of Illinois to the Bank of Springfield Center for their 40th year to compete for the top spot in their division.

Of the first place winners, Carterville Junior High School cheerleaders are repeat champions in the Small Junior High Division after winning two years in a row. Mt. Vernon also took home a first place finish in the Junior Varsity Game Day Division.

The ICCA championships are the longest running championships in the state of Illinois.
