SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Marion Junior High Dance team brought home the Grand Champion title after competing in the 46th Annual Illinois Drill Team (IDTA) state finals over the weekend.
The junior high squad in Marion also took 1st place in Kick, Open Pom and Lyrical, as well as, earning High Point for their Lyrical performance against dozens of other state-qualifying teams.

The Marion Junior High team won the grand champion title the previous two years as well, making this year a three-peat.
The Marion High School team were big winners as well, as they also won the Grand Champion title for Class AA. This was the first time in history for the high school team.
The Marion High School squad also won 1st in AA Kick, 2nd in AA Jazz and 3rd in AA Open Pom.
The Herrin Tigers team also came away winners after competing in the IDTA state finals competition over the weekend in Springfield.

The Tigers brought home first place in both AA Lyrical Flag and AA Tall Flag.

This was no ordinary feat however. The team first qualified in December on the floor with their Lyrical routine.
Herrin also won their AA Division for Lyrical Flag last year as well. This brings the total of eight first place trophies for Herrin this year with the two state titles.
The Benton High School squad also brought home 1st place in AA Hip Hop.
The event gave performance and educational opportunities for Illinois dance teams and Illinois flag teams for the youth.
