Cape Girardeau mall under redevelopment
You may see some changes to a local mall as it is getting a facelift. If you are passing through Cape Girardeau, you’ll see construction going on at the West Park Mall. Contractors are gutting a portion of the east wing near the front entrance. Crews have a fence in place to block off any traffic while work is ongoing. River City Centre announced plans to redevelop the mall back in April of 2023. RIHC Contracting, the Lawrence Group and Pilot Construction Solutions are working together to develop the new West Park Mall. Nick Martin with River City Centre tells us crews started working on the interior of the mall in January before switching to the exterior demolition stage. Martin says this first phase of this project should be completed by the Spring of 2025 with two more phases after that.
