Back into the freezer we go!

CARTERVILLE Ill. (WSIL) -- This winter sure has been relentless as of recent. Another arctic cold front moved through overnight bringing bitterly cold temperatures across the area. Widespread teens this morning will lock in place our recent snowfall for a few more days. No real help from the daytime highs as we wont get our of the 20s for highs. The sun will be shining though which is some good news. That will help melt a little snow but with temperatures below freezing all day, any water could refreeze especially in shady areas. We will also probably see an increase in icicles on houses as roof snow melts and drips off in subfreezing air.聽

Make sure you are staying warm and limiting outdoor exposure if you're not properly dressed. Were not the only ones feeling the cold! Make sure your pets don't spend long period outside in these harsh temperatures. Of course its always good to check in on your neighbors and the elderly to make sure they are appropriately taken care of as well.聽

By the end of the week, we look to see some relief with our temperatures going back to seasonable averages in the low 40s. There are hints however that this will be short lived as a new arctic blast reloads for the second half of the month.聽
