Carterville (WSIL) -- Quite an amazing day across the region! Full sunshine prevailed across the entire region leading to an amazing day to get outside and enjoy the day. Temperatures shot up to the low 60s across much of the area after starting our day off below freezing in many locations.Â

A cold front is headed for us on Sunday evening which should provide some showers and a few thunderstorms to the region. While shear parameters would support severe weather there is a lot of upper level dry air that will aid in making it hard for thunderstorms to completely fire. A few isolated damaging wind gusts in the more robust cells seems like the main threat but we will watch it closely as the cold front moves through.Â
That same cold front will help to push out as much cloud cover as it can for us on Monday before our solar eclipse. We have partly cloudy conditions set for Monday afternoon but I really think were in a really good spot for a great show from this Eclipse.Â
