Carterville Ill. (WSIL) -- Our temperatures take another step up today with most of us getting to 90 degrees for our high temperatures. Our humidity takes a small dip on Saturday but our temperatures will stay the same.Â
Humidity makes a big time come back along with rising temperatures as the big high pressure from out west moves over our area this Sunday. This will provide us with temperatures in the mid and upper 90s with high humidity as well. Meaning heat index values could reach 100 for many of us. This will most likely be the hottest day of the year for us all.Â

While these don't quite reach advisory levels, you should still take this heat seriously as its our first long lasting sustained heat of the summer. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and make sure you limit outdoor exposure or make sure you are taking frequent breaks.Â
The heat index drops back to around 95-99 for the rest of next week with highs remaining in the 90s. We will have the opportunity for some isolated storm activity for a few days next week as we enter a classic summer time pattern.Â
