Brr! Temperatures near 15º below average!

CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- The abnormally cold weather will remain in the place for at least a few more days. A chilly morning Tuesday with temperatures in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Clouds and a light wind have combined to keep frost nonexistent.

Clouds will gradually clear through the day with sunshine and light northwest wind expected Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures will peak around 50 degrees across most of the area.

As skies clear, winds will become very light tonight. That will set the stage for maximum cooling to kick into gear late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will likely fall near freezing for a few hours early Wednesday with widespread frost possible.

A Freeze Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Wednesday morning from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. Some sensitve plants could be vulnerable to the cold and may need to be covered or brought in for protection.
