...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Peak heat index values up to near 105.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Carterville (WSIL) -- Today will be another warm late December day. Temperatures will remain well above average, despite clouds moving in overhead. Thanks to cloud cover, temperatures will likely be a bit cooler than they were on Christmas, but they likely still reach low 60s.

Today will also be another dry day, as our next chance for rain doesn't return until Saturday afternoon. Chief Meteorologist, Jim Rasor, will be back tonight with another look at your forecast.
