Coldest air of the season

afternoon

WSIL (Carterville) -- Today is the final day with unseasonably cool temperatures and it's really going to be chilly. Highs today will struggle hitting 40 degrees with most of southern Illinois stuck in the 30s. On the literal bright side, at least we'll have some sunshine.

Temperatures jump back to seasonable tomorrow with highs in the mid 50s. Wednesday will easily be the pick day of the week with warmer temperatures and sunshine.

Warmth continues into the end of the week, but it'll be bringing rain chances along with it. Thursday is trending to be pretty soggy, as a soaking rain returns. Totals will range between 0.75 and 1.75".

A very small chance of rain hangs around through the weekend, but no need to cancel any plans.
