CARBONDALE � The Softball Salukis clubbed three home runs and cruised to their fifth straight win, beating UT-Martin 11-2 in six innings.
Kyleigh Decker hit a three-run shot off the scoreboard in right in the second inning to put SIU up 4-0. Two innings later, Decker added a solo shot to extend the Saluki lead to 5-0.
Kallie Pickens hit a two-run homer for the Skyhawks in the fifth to cut it to 5-2, but SIU got one of those runs back on a bases loaded wild pitch in the fifth. Then in the sixth, Ashley Wood was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 7-2. Katelyn Massa followed with grand slam, ending the game by run rule.
Former Massac County standout Gracyn McBride went 0-3 for the Skyhawks, who fall to 22-12 on the season.
The Salukis improve to 18-9. They will hit the road this weekend to face MVC leading Illinois State.
