through the day. These storms will produce torrential downpours
which will overwhelm drainage systems and small creeks, leading to
areas of flash flooding.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM CDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Areas of southern Illinois along and south of Highway 13
and all of western Kentucky.

* WHEN...From 10 AM CDT this morning through 12 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop across
southern Illinois and western Kentucky from late this morning
through late tonight. Areas that see thunderstorms could
receive 1.5 to 3.0 inches of rain in just one or two hours,
with locally higher amounts up to 4 inches possible.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

1 death, 3 new COVID-19 cases in Jackson County

MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) -- The Jackson County Health Department has announced one new death and three new cases of COVID-19.

Health officials say the death is that of a woman in her 90s who was previously confirmed to have COVID-19.

The new cases are:

  • Female â€� One in her twenties, and one in her fifties
  • Male â€� One under 10

Jackson County Health Department has reported a total of 308 cases of COVID-19 in the county, including 12 deaths. There are currently 37 active cases.

As of Wednesday, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 129,837 cases, including 6,095 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois.
