CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- The Carbondale City Hall reopened to the public Monday, with some restrictions.

If you plan on going to city hall, face masks are required and social distancing lines are in place for those waiting in line.

Plexiglass has been installed at all locations where employees interact with the public.

For those needing to make payments, the city is still encouraging using alternative payment methods, such as , by mail, dropbox, or at bank locations.

City leaders say this was the best time to get services back up and running.

"The City Manager has been working with public health officials and discussing a safe re-opening. A lot of businesses in Carbondale have chosen this week to re-open their doors, and we decided this would be a good time for us to do it as well," said Public Relations Officer Roni LeForge.

The Carbondale Civic Center will remain closed until further notice.
