MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- Two organizations are partnering together to bring a Moderna Vaccine Clinic to people in the community.

As mass clinics have become available, fewer people are going in to get the vaccine.

Susan was the twelfth person to arrive at Butler High-rise Thursday morning to get the Moderna Vaccine. She said, even though she's scared she's still getting it for safety reasons.

"Well it's just because it's the right thing to do, you know. I don't want to get somebody sick. I don't want to get sick," said Susan.

Susan said she doesn't go out much anymore and this pop-up Christopher Rural Health and ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois Coalition for the Homeless Vaccine clinic is not only convenient, but also helpful.

Gayla Litton, an RN from CRHPC, said one of the reasons they are taking the clinics to various communities, is because they see fewer people coming in.

"We are now just trying to get the people who maybe now don't have transportation or have limited ability to get to the clinics," said Litton.

The Community Center in West Salem and the Catholic Church in Johnston City have also been the sites of vaccine clinics.

"Oh, I think it is helpful because again they have limited ability to get themselves to locations so we come them. I think it's very helpful," said Litton.

In 28-days, CRHPC will head over to a new location for the second dose of the vaccine. That second-dose location will take place in June at the LaMar Building in Marion.

Litton said they are still giving out the vaccine Monday through Friday at their main office.
