MARION (WSIL) -- KB's Barbeque said that they would stay open for indoor dining and so far, things have gone smoothly.

They have kept up with all the rules for indoor dining that were previously implemented by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, but the owners say they had to stay open for their family and their employees.

As of Friday, they haven't had any trouble with law enforcement or the health department.

In fact, the last two days have been some of the busier days for KB's Barbeque, with many customers showing up to show their support for the restaurant.

And despite warnings that restaurants staying open during the new mitigations would be visited by state police, KB's did not have any issues.

And while the owners are worried about possible repercussions, they felt they had no other choice but to stay open.

"We don't wanna get into any conflict but at the same time, there comes a point when you have to fight to survive," said Kevin Borum, owner of KB's Barbeque.

"Our workers have rent to pay and they have no other way to pay it but with their job. I mean, we have to be open for them," said Kevin's wife, Michelle Borum.

KB's Barbeque thanks their customers for their support during this time.

The Illinois Department of Public Health has requested assistance from Illinois State Police to enforce the IDPH emergency rules.

If businesses do not comply, state or local enforcement can issue the business a misdemeanor citation, similar to enforcing indoor smoking laws.
