...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Williamson and Franklin
Counties.

.Heavy rainfall has ended across the area. The Big Muddy River is
continuing to rise and crests are expected over the next week.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...Major
flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* IMPACTS...At 34.0 feet, Many surrounding homes begin to flood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 25.7 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 8:30 PM CDT Sunday was 25.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 32.4
feet Wednesday morning.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

...FREEZE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From late Monday night through Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Illinois, including the following
counties, Franklin, Jefferson, Johnson, Perry, Pulaski, Union,
Wayne and Williamson.

* WHEN...Until 1000 AM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water
crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 613 PM CDT, Even though the heavy rain has ended,
substantial flooding continues across much of the warned
area. Between 5 and 9 inches of rain have fallen since the
start of the event on Wednesday. Only light drizzle is
anticipated through this evening.
- Flooding impacts will continue, with only minimal additional
rainfall expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Marion, Mount Vernon, Herrin, West Frankfort, Benton, Du
Quoin, Pinckneyville, Carterville, Fairfield, Anna, Johnston
City, Christopher, Jonesboro, Vienna, Rend Lake Area, Sesser,
Zeigler, Crainville, Cambria and Cobden.

Congressman Bost supports COVID-19 stimulus bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSIL) -- President Donald Trump is expected to sign a to help fight the impact of COVID-19 on the U.S. economy.

Congressman Mike Bost (R-Murphysboro) threw his support behind the legislation.

“Families are scared; small businesses are struggling; and hospitals are fighting an uphill battle against an unseen enemy,” said Bost. “While this bill certainly wasn’t perfect, the consequences of inaction were too high not to support it. We have a long way to go in defeating the coronavirus and jumpstarting our economy, but the more certainty we can restore for the American people, the quicker we’ll get there.�

The bill sends direct payments of $1,200 to most individuals, $2,400 for couples, and $500 per child according to Bost.
