MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) -- Despite Illinois moving into phase three of its reopening plan many locations throughout the state will stay closed for now.
The posted on Facebook the tennis courts at Longfellow Park and pavilions at Riverside Park will be open.
However, popular spots like the splash pad, dog park, and playgrounds will stay shut down until the state moves into phase four.
The park district also canceled the city's annual 4th of July celebration.
"With the limit on crowd sizes and the cancellation of many other fireworks displays in the area, there became no other realistic options."
The post went on to say, "We know that everyone is champing at the bit to see a full return of parks. Now, more than ever, we must continue to follow the guidelines from local and state health officials to help prevent a resurgence of COVID-19 infections in our community."
