Franklin County man dies; dozens of COVID-19 cases reported in southern Illinois

(WSIL) -- According to the Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department a man in his 80s died from the virus. He becomes the 70th death reported between the two counties.

The health department also announced 20 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday. 11 in Franklin County and nine in Williamson.

JACKSON COUNTY: 18 new cases (Eight females and 10 males)

  • There are 150 active cases in Jackson County as of Oct. 24

PERRY COUNTY: 19 new cases reported (including Friday and Saturday)

  • Those numbers include one child under the age of 10

SALINE COUNTY: Four males and two females

WHITE COUNTY: Two females and one male

Illinois Department of Public Health new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.
