(WSIL) -- Residents of the Anna Veterans Home are given a holiday surprise by Hospice of ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois with the help of local kids.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and not allowing visitors inside, Hospice employees painted the outside of bedroom windows for residents.
The project took place a few days before Christmas, so everyone at the veterans home could enjoy the holiday scenes throughout the week.
Hospice of ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois also gifted 38 veterans sweatshirts and sweat pants to keep them extra warm during these cold winter months.
The employees and Millie the service dog did receive lots of help from kids in Carbondale, Energy and Marion.
Unity Christian School had their children make candy cane reindeer.
While students from Washington Elementary school, and members of the Boys and Girls club, wrote Christmas cards.
