Illinois State agencies to require masks starting Aug. 2

ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- Mask requirements are back for several state agencies starting next week.

Secretary of State Jesse White announced Wednesday that beginning Monday, August 2, all customers and employees are required to wear mask at Secretary of State offices, the State Capitol and Driver Services Facilities.

This comes as COVID-19 cases are on the rise again in Illinois. Press Secretary Henry Haupt says it is a proactive measure to help facilities remain open to continue serving the needs of Illinois drivers.

"It is imperative that we continue to keep our driver services facilities open and we feel a way to achieve that is for our customers, our employees to wear masks, keep the virus out of the facilities," says Haupt. "We don't want to have to close facilities individually because of an outbreak."
