CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- John A. Logan College has for classes for the fall semester.

Students will have four options for learning, including in-person, virtually or a mixture of both.

"A student will just need to jump on their website, look at their schedule. It will indicate the modality and then if they need to make changes, they will reach out to their advisor," said Vice President for Instructional Services Dr. Melanie Pecord.

It's a plan Pecord says could be revised in the coming days.

"We don't want the pandemic to stop an individual moving forward in their education, but safety and health of our students, of our employees, are our utmost and top priority," she said.

Pecord says it's important this semester for students to monitor their online programs.

"Students need to check their MyJALC. That is a student portal that has all the information. All the updated and current information will be posted there, as well as students need to be checking their email and texts," she said.

For those on campus, there will be safety precautions, including daily deep cleanings.

"There will be screenings when they get to the building. There will be third-party screening for students, people to enter the building. Facemasks will be required. We have flexiglass in office spaces," she said.

Although administration is hopeful to start in Phase 4, the campus is prepared for any changes.

"We know this is a difficult time, and it has been hard waiting, and we are getting late into the semester, but we appreciate the patience."
