...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values between 100 and 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health
impacts will build with each successive day in the heat and
humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.

Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center: 53 new positives

Egyptian Health Department: 2 deaths, 40 new positives

  • Saline County (2 deaths)
    • Female: 1 under the age of 10, 2 in their teens, 3 in their 20’s, 1 in their 30’s, 1 in their 50’s, 1 in their 60’s, 1 demographics unknown-case status in progress
    • Male: 1 under the age of 10, 1 in their 20’s, 1 in their 30’s, 1 in their 40’s, 1 in their 50’s, 1 in their 60’s
  • Gallatin County
    • Female: 2 in their 20’s
  • White County
