More than a dozen new virus cases in southern Illinois

(WSIL) -- Health departments across southern Illinois are reporting 15 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, May 16, 2021.

Franklin County:

  • New Cases: 3
  • Total Cases: 4572
  • Total Deaths: 67

Gallatin County:

  • Male: 1 under the age of 10, 1 in their 40’s

Gallatin County has a total of 505 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including 3 deaths.

Jackson County:

  • 2 new cases
  • Gender/ ages not provided

Jackson County has had 5,096 cases to date, with 73 related deaths. Of those positive cases, 4,974 individuals released from isolation, including four Sunday.

White County:

  • Male: 1 in their teens, 1 in their 20’s.

White County has had a total of 1,803 lab-confirmed positives, including 27 deaths.

Williamson County:

  • New Cases:  6
  • Total Cases: 7682                                                  
  • Total Deaths: 124

Illinois Department of Public Health:

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,248 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease Sunday, including 24 additional deaths.  

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,366,268 cases, including 22,439 deaths across the state.

A total of 10,375,588 vaccines have been administered.
