...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Franklin and Williamson
Counties.

.The Big Muddy River continues to rise due to heavy rain last week
and over the weekend. The river will crest on Thursday before
starting a very slow fall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

forecast.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

- At 10:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 28.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 31.0
feet early Thursday morning.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
30.7 feet on 01/26/1949.

New COVID-19 outbreak at long-term care facility

JEFFERSON CO., IL (WSIL) -- The Jefferson County Health Department reported 32 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Most of those are at a long-term care facility.

There are 21 new positive residents and 6 new positive employees at that facility. The Health Department has not released the name of the location.

Back in April of the virus at the GreenTree facility in Mt. Vernon.

According to , there have been 16 deaths and more than 75 cases of COVID-19 at long-term care facilities in Jefferson County

The five other new COVID-19 cases reported Friday in Jefferson County are:

  • Two females in their 50s
  • One female in her 70s
  • Two males in their 50s
