CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- The SIU emergency fund, Saluki Cares Student Emergency Fund, has raised more than $240,000 for students.
Since March 24th, more than one-thousand donors have contributed to the foundation, allowing students to make emergency requests for utilities, medicine, laptops and more.
Walgreens also donated $1,500 worth of toiletry items for students with children.
Dean of students Jennifer Jones-Hall says she's happy about the outpouring of help.
"We are just so excited and proud and thankful more than anything for the alumni donations that we've had," she said.
