MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- Is it a return to the good ole days?
The CDC's guidance means you could see vaccinated workers mingling with customers without masks.
News 3 spoke with business owner John McPeek of Mackie's Pizza Of Marion and he said even though he and his employees have permission to take them off many of them like wearing them.
McPeek says many of his wait staff are still wearing masks, but it's more so out of habit as opposed to feeling unsafe in their work environment.
McPeek said he and his employees have followed every precaution requested by the CDC and IDPH and it's good to see everyone's hard work paying off.
McPeek said he'd like to see customers who have not been vaccinated continue to wear masks inside of his business for precautionary reasons.
"People still in the restaurant business, people are still wearing the masks. The waitstaff is still wearing the masks. I think grocery stores they are still wearing the masks. I think overall, a normal business I think they are taking the masks off. You know the big box stores I know they still want you to wear the mask but I notice when you go in them a lot of people are maskless," said McPeek.
The CDC said going forward each business has the right to decide its own mask usage policy and whether it would like to continue with a sanitizing regimen.
