Cats of Carbondale hosts event to help reduce unwanted cat litters

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL)—In a creative effort to help get more cats fixed, Cats of Carbondale is combining the holiday with a fundraiser for animals in the community.

The Cats of Carbondale announced that they are hosting their "Unsex Your Ex" event.

Organizers say people can donate $30; a cat getting spayed or neutered will be named after its ex. Cats of Carbondale says the reason is that "some people (and cats!) just shouldn't reproduce."

The organization says it's to bring light-hearted fun for the holiday while raising money to fix these animals and help the community from unwanted cat litter.

Donations can be made to the organization's PayPal, CashApp, or check. All donations must be in before February 14th.

PayPal: @catsofcdale

Cash App: $catsofcarbondale

Cats of Carbondale says they will release photos of the cats and their new names on their social media pages.
