Confluence Books Gives Bucks to Women for Change

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Confluence Books in Carbondale raises funds for local charities through its Buck-a-Book sale at the .

Each Saturday you can find them there offering gently used books for a dollar each.

That's led to a pitcher full of change for Women for Change.

owner Sarah Heyer presented the pitcher of dollars to the non-profit group while visiting their Sewing Center at the Eurma Hayes Center.

Five Saturdays of Buck-a-Book brought in $562.43 for the organization.

started from a group of women deciding it was time to stand up and make change in their community, the Northeast side of Carbondale.

Their Red Hen Garden provides fresh produce to the neighborhood, as well as beautification.

The group's president, Ginger Rye Sanders expressed her appreciation. "Thank you for your generous donation. I am deeply grateful and humbled by your kindness."

Confluence Books sells used books at 705 West Main Street in Carbondale. All books are donated by the public. Overflow is put on sale at the Saturday market.
