MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WSIL) -- Crews are finished repairing a large electrical line damaged from the ice storm on January 5, in southern Illinois.
The ice storm damaged trees and power lines across the area and left many in the dark; outages which lasted more than a week in some areas from the ice storm.
One particular major power line was damaged in Jackson County. Electric crews temporarily redirected power with a different line to turn the lights back on in the area. In the meantime, crews have finished rebuilding the major power line to get customers permanently switched back from the temporary line.
This particular line runs through the Shawnee National Forest which feeds power to Murphysboro. This repair was in an area with tough terrain with dense vegetation.Â
An Ameren Illinois representative says they finished the repair last Friday at around midnight.
