Boil water order

Boil water orders are issued when the community's water supply may contain germs which could make people sick. When a boil water order is issued, it's important to make sure you take precautions to avoid any health complications.

ILLINOIS

Jackson County

  • Kinkaid Water District - On June 19, a聽boil water order has been issued, affecting customers along Ava Road from Mudline Road to Ava, and on Route 4 to Willisville. This includes water customers in Campbell Hill as well. The order is in effect until further notice.
  • - On June 19, A boil water order was issued.

Union County

  • Anna -聽The City of Anna has issued a boil water order for water customers throughout the entire city. This is in effect until further notice.

Rend Lake

  • Multiple communities issued a boil water order after a water main break in Benton on June 16. Only Mulkeytown's order remains.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), they recommend using bottled water or boiled water for drinking, cooking, food preparation, washing dishes, brushing teeth, mixing baby formula and filling water bowls for pets.

The CDC recommends bringing water to a full rolling boil for one minute, or three minutes at elevations above 6,500 feet. Then allow the water to cool before using it.

When washing hands with tap water during a boil water order, it's recommended to use soap and water, then using alcohol-based hand sanitizer and let them air dry.
