CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Are you looking for a place to stay in southern Illinois or southeast Missouri for the night before the solar eclipse? You better be prepared to reach deep in your pockets then.
While most of the traditional hotels are booked up, there are a couple of rooms we found that are still available. Not only hotels, but other places have room and board options as well.
We did a little research and found the options that are left are pretty pricy.
Some simple Google searches on April 5, resulted in some jaw dropping prices for the night of April 7, far exceeding the traditional $80 to $120 one night rates you would normally see.
According to , we found one room available at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites for $366.
Down the road at , you will find a rate of $382.
Staying in Mt. Vernon, we found one room left at the for $233 for this night.
About 37 miles away from Carbondale, we found the where one room is available. This is one of the cheaper options we found at $132 according to the Expedia site.

On airbnb, we found a private room in bed and breakfast in Jacob, Illinois. The price? It's $550.
Another place we found on airbnb was the Eagles Nest Lodge. It's an entire home with 4 bedroom, 7 beds, 3.5 baths. This is for $6,500 a night.
A little further south in Alexander County, Illinois. The Quality Inn Cairo I-57 has two options. Both for $600 per night. Add in fees for a total of $666.
In southeast Missouri, we found the Comfort Suites in Jackson has a room available. Their site states the room rate is $947 on the night of April 7. Add fees, it's $1,011.
A couple miles away in Cape Girardeau, the Candlewood Suites has one room left for $359.
About 30 minutes south of Cape Girardeau, you'll find the . Expedia states they have one room for $297.
In Perryville, Missouri, the  has a room for $297.
There may be a couple more hotel options in the area but this is what we found. We searched areas including Poplar Bluff and Sikeston in Missouri, along with Paducah, Kentucky, and there was nothing available.
Other alternatives might be campgrounds.
A tent in Carbondale at the , you will find that for $150 a night with fees.
