HARRISBURG, Ill. (WSIL) -- UPDATE: 11:15 p.m. - The City of Harrisburg is under a boil water order after the water main break earlier on Tuesday night.
The City of Harrisburg Water Department informed their residents just before 11 p.m., stating the entire city is under the boil water order until further notice.
ORIGINAL: October 22, 9:30 p.m. -- A major water break is affecting residents in multiple communities in Saline County.
The Harrisburg IL Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2254 informed the public of a break in the water line somewhere between Harrisburg and Saline Valley Water Distribution on Tuesday night.
The fire department said the communities affected were Harrisburg, Eldorado and Carrier Mills.
Authorities urge people in these communities to conserve any water usage.
The fire department said they are running off water towers in the area and ground storage tanks.
