WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Authorities in Williamson County seized roughly $250,000 worth of drugs after a 115-mile pursuit Tuesday night.
The WIlliamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) said it happened on December 5, at 9:22 p.m. when deputies saw a vehicle commit some violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
At this time, deputies tried to pull over the vehicle but it failed to yield and continued going north on I-57 at around the 60 mile marker.
A pursuit between the suspect and deputies then continued to travel north on I-57. The WCSO said the suspect passed multiple semi-trucks and attempted to run deputies off the road.
The suspect reached up to 100 mph and traveled up 115 miles to Effingham, Illinois where deputies then terminated the pursuit by conducting a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver.
This PIT maneuver stopped the vehicle and deputies were able to arrest the driver.
The driver was identified as Dejon D. Wooden of Los Angeles, California.
WCSO said deputies seized 80.3 pounds of Cannabis and 760 ounces of Promethazine from the vehicle. They said the street value of these drugs is about $250,000.
Wooden was cited for the following:
- Cannabis Trafficking (Class X Felony)
- Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis (Class X Felony)
- Controlled Substance Trafficking (Class 2 Felony)
- Aggravated Assault (Class 4 Felony)
- Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding (Class 4 Felony)
- Reckless Driving (Class A misdemeanor)
- Speeding 35+ (Class A misdemeanor)
- Driving on Shoulder
- Disobeying Stop Sign
- Improper Lane Usage
Wooden was taken to the Williamson County Jail.

The Effingham County Sheriff鈥檚 Office, Effingham Police Department, Fayette County Sheriff鈥檚 Office, Illinois State Police, Jefferson County Sheriff鈥檚 Office, and the Mt. Vernon Police Department assisted in the case.
