20-year-old in jail after allegedly assaulting and trying to kidnap a female

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- A man is behind bars after being accused of trying to force a woman in his car and injuring her.

Scott City Police Department reported the incident happened on Tuesday, February 27. Officers responded to a 911 call, claiming an assault took place.

Once officers got to the scene, they found a female victim. Police allege Willis Weaver tried to kidnap the female by grabbing her and trying to force her in a vehicle.

Police said the victim was able to get away. Officers reportedly saw injuries on her as well.

Weaver was accused of riding around with his and the female's two children when he was trying to find out where she was. Police then allege an argument happened between the two of them and an assault took place. 

Weaver was later taken into custody and charged with kidnapping to the second-degree and domestic assault to the third-degree.
