21-Year-Old Faces Several Charges in Carbondale After Allegedly Threatening Person with Gun

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- One person is has been arrested and faces multiple charges after he allegedly threatened another person with a gun.

The Carbondale Police Department said officers were patrolling the area on foot in the 700-block of East Grand Avenue at 2 a.m. on July 20.

Officers were alerted by someone there and alleged a man threatening them with a gun. The victim then pointed to a suspect in the area, police detailed in a release.

Officers then approached the suspect, which was identified as Ethan J. Jones, 21 of Portageville, Missouri.

Police started investigating and Jones was alleged to have had a gun in his waistband. Police said he is not permitted to possess a handgun.

Jones was then taken into custody and faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Jones was taken to the Jackson County Jail. The investigation is active and ongoing.
