CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A 31-year-old Carbondale woman faces charges in relation to a shooting which sent one to the hospital on Tuesday.
The Carbondale Police Department said officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 400-block of North Beadle Drive at 7:45 a.m. on May 7.
Police said they found a victim with a gunshot wound. At that time, officers and paramedics started live saving procedures to the victim before being transported by an ambulance for treatment.
The victim is in critical condition as of 4:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
Carbondale police then said they found Evetta Hughes, 31 of Carbondale, who they believe is a suspect in this case. Police said Hughes and the victim are married. They also believe this was an isolated domestic incident between the two.
Hughes faces charges of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Aggravated Domestic Battery.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
