PADUCAH, Ky. -- A 42-year-old faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a gun by a felon after he allegedly shot a firearm towards another person.
The Paducah Police Department said officers responded to the H.C. Mathis Drive and the North 14th Street area for shots fired around 10 p.m. on Thursday.
Police reported a man was walking on Atkins Avenue when a white SUV nearly hit him. After the SUV pulled into the driveway, an argument reportedly started between the driver and the man walking nearby.
The driver was later identified as Leroy Johnson, 42 of Paducah.
Johnson then was accused of going into a home and coming back out with a gun and reportedly shot at the man.
Officers went to the home and found a spent shell casing in the area of the front porch of the home.
After getting a search warrant, officers went inside the home of Johnson and found a gun. Officers also checked and found Johnson is prohibited from having a gun due to multiple drug-related felony convictions.
Johnson was then arrested and faces attempted murder and possessing a firearm charges. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
