CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A Cairo man faces an assault charge after police say he ran after someone and tried to stab them.
The Carbondale Police Department said their officers responded for a report of an assault on September 6, around 1:29 a.m. in the 600-block of North Illinois Avenue.
Police said one person was chasing another person and trying to stab while they were in the road.
This incident stemmed from a dispute between the suspect and the victim, police reported.
The suspect was identified by police as Henry Davis, 66 of Cairo. Police said Davis was injured when he was hit by a vehicle while chasing the victim. He was then taken to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment for his injuries.
Police said the victim was also taken to the hospital for some minor injuries as well.
Carbondale police also said Davis was charged with Aggravated Assault.
