JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A woman faces multiple charges after local law enforcement said they found drugs in her car during a traffic stop.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said on December 6, at 10:07 p.m., deputies saw a vehicle run through a stop sign in Johnston City at Grande Avenue and 10th Street.
The vehicle was reported with an expired registration since May of 2019.
After a deputy pulled over the vehicle, the sheriff's office said the driver was identified as Brandy Meracle.
The sheriff's office said K9 Shadow sniffed the vehicle and had a positive alert which led to the discovery of drugs found in the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle found methamphetamine, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and an open Keystone Light, according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
According to online court records, Meracle faces charges of Possession of Meth <5 Grams and Possession of Controlled Substance.
Meracle was taken to the Williamson County Jail. She is due back in court for a jail status hearing on December 9, at 2 p.m.
