CHRISTOPHER, Ill. (WSIL) -- A juvenile faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, in connection to a shooting in Christopher on Thursday morning.
The Christopher Police Department said the shooting happened near E. Washington Street and Church Street on January 30. Once officers got to the scene, they said they found a male victim who was shot in his arm and rib area.
The victim was then flown to a hospital in St. Louis.
Officers and detectives with the Christopher Police Department started investigating and said they identified a suspect as a 17-year-old.
The suspect was later found and arrested with the assistance of the West Frankfort Police Department.
Police said the juvenile faces the following charges...
- Attempted Murder
- Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
- Reckless Conduct
- Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon
- Unlawful Use of a Weapon
The juvenile suspect was taken to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and then taken to a juvenile detention center in Missouri.
A search warrant was also served at a home in Christopher in relation to this investigation, police added.
