CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A juvenile male is in custody after police respond to a report of someone threatening another person with a gun in Carbondale.
The Carbondale Police Department said their office received a complaint about a person with a gun threatening a manager at a store in the 500-block of East Main Street on July 19, at 10:48 p.m.
Police said they couldn't locate the person the complaint was about at the time.
Hours later, at 12:50 a.m. on July 20, police got another call about someone with a gun. They said this person was described to be in a vehicle similar to the previous report was described as.
Officers found the vehicle near University Avenue and Main Street and pulled over the vehicle along South Illinois Avenue.Â
Officers said one person in the vehicle was a juvenile with a warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Police took the juvenile into custody.
Carbondale police also said they found a loaded gun under the seat of where they said the juvenile was seated at in the vehicle.
Police believe this juvenile was suspected as the person who threatened a store manager hours earlier.
The juvenile was then taken to a juvenile detention center.
Other people in the vehicle which was pulled over were released.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
