(WSIL) -- A Kevil, Kentucky man is now facing federal gun charges after multiple threats to community members and local law enforcement.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says over the last year Anthony Turner has called several law enforcement agencies while intoxicated. The majority of the calls had no legitimate purpose. Turner has also called and harassed a local business and law enforcement agencies outside of Kentucky.
After several discussions with the McCracken County Attorney’s Office, Turner was charged with several crimes including Harassing Communications and Resisting Arrest in 2020. Other law enforcement agencies have also charged him with Misuse of 911 and other crimes as a result of his harassing behavior.
Deputies from McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and Ballard County Sheriff’s Office still continued to respond to Turner’s Kevil residence after Turner would call 911. Turner had become increasingly agitated and vocalized threats towards citizens and law enforcement. One incident led to a short standoff where deputies observed firearms in Turner’s possession and Turner threatened deputies with a knife.
Recently, Turner threatened another McCracken County resident with a firearm. Turner was ultimately located in Ballard County where he was arrested and the firearm was seized.
In addition to the previous incidents, at the beginning of March 2021, Turner was found operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Turner was in possession of two loaded firearms and was threatening to kill unknown people.
After discussions with prosecutors of the United States Attorney’s Office in Paducah, KY, a federal arrest complaint for Anthony Turner was issued. On Monday, March 8, 2021, Turner was served with the federal complaint. Turner was charged federally with three (3) counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Turner has a previous felony conviction that prohibits him from possessing a firearm. Turner is currently lodged in the Ballard County Jail.
