...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Areas of southern Illinois along and south of Highway 13
and all of western Kentucky.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop across
southern Illinois and western Kentucky. Areas that see
thunderstorms could receive 1.5 to 3.0 inches of rain in just
one or two hours, with locally higher amounts up to 4 inches
possible.

should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Major Case Squad activated following Cape Girardeau homicide

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo (WSIL) -- A double shooting late Tuesday night leads to one death and the activation of the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at approximately 10:04 p.m., officers responded to the 1100-block of South Sprigg Street in Cape Girardeau.

There officers discovered two victims with gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to a local hospital where one victim died as a result of their injuries. The second victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released from the hospital.
