...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values of 100 to 107.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Man Sentenced to 112 Years for Criminal Sexual Assault

ZEIGLER, Ill. -- A local man is sentenced to 112 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.Ìý

33-year-old Allen Farris was found guilty of multiple sexual assault charges in August of 2023. The incidents occurred from November of 2020 through February of 2021.Ìý

The victim disclosed the abuse to authorities in March of 2021, according to the Franklin County State's Attorney. It prompted an investigation by ISP and the Department of Children and Family Services.Ìý

Today's hearing was held at the Franklin County Courthouse. Several of the victim's family and members of law enforcement were in attendance.

The sentence accounts for four separate counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child. The sentences will be served consecutively to one another.
